Organize your one-to-one support day
A one-to-one para schedule records your own responsibilities through an assigned student's day: where you go together, what you do in each block, and who takes over when you step away. It is an adult schedule, not a student record.
It helps an adult assigned to support one student who wants the day's blocks, transitions, and relief handoff written down clearly, without entering student details.
The example day
Fictional example dutiesYour day as the template puts it in your draft. The group label is a placeholder, not a name.

The template leaves the receiving adult blank: enter the label of the adult the teacher names. A handoff records what you entered; it does not confirm that it happened.
Not every break is yours. The movement break at 10:15 AM is marked “This is the student's scheduled break, not your own break.”
What to enter
- Time
- Each class block and transition to the minute, following the student's timetable.
- Duty
- The block as the day calls it: Reading block, Walk to PE, Science block.
- Location
- Where the block happens: Room 104, the gym, the music room.
- Adult role
- What you do in the block: sit nearby and prompt as agreed, help with materials, support turn-taking.
- Group label
- A placeholder, “Assigned student”. Replace it with a label your school permits, or leave it blank; no name is needed.
- Handoff
- Who you hand off to and where, before your break or at a transition.
How to use it
- Replace the placeholder group label with a label your school permits, or clear it.
- Choose Use this template and match each class block's room and times to the student's timetable.
- Write your role in each block as what you do, not what the student does.
- Enter the handoff before your break: the relief adult's label and the place you meet.
- Print the substitute handoff sheet for whoever covers the day, and check which details belong on paper.
What stays the same, and what can change
What stays the same
- The class blocks and transitions repeat on every workday.
- Your own break stays separate from the student's movement break, which is a duty you supervise.
What can change
- A different relief adult on one date: change that date's handoff with This date only.
- A new timetable from a set date: edit the routine and choose when the new version starts.

Practical questions
Should I put the student's name in it?
Check with your school or district first; their rules decide what you may enter. The template works without a name: a room, a permitted label, and your role are usually enough. Initials alone do not make information anonymous.
Is the movement break my break?
No. In this template the movement break is the student's scheduled break, which you supervise. Your own lunch break is a separate duty with the adult break type.
What if nobody is entered to take over?
The handoff shows only what you entered. If the receiving adult is left blank, it stays unnamed on your copy; the schedule does not choose or assign anyone.
Can a substitute read my day?
Print the substitute handoff sheet, or invite a named person to read a limited view with the dates and details you choose.
